Clean Water
Critical Need for Water
As in many rural areas of the world, clean water is lacking in Nkende, Tanzania. Families are left scooping up dirty water from puddles or walking great distances to the river. In 2023, two children drowned in the river gathering water for their family. This water is so dirty that it clogs up water filter very quickly. LFO hopes to drill four wells to serve the whole village. Smiles of Hope funded the first well in November to the joy and relief of the community.
This young boy walked 30 minutes one-way to fetch water from this swamp. When the swamp dries out, he will walk an hour and a half to the river. One goal of the organization Living for Others is to build four wells in Tarime, Tanzania to help the citizens live in closer proximity to basic needs.
