Pastor Kim Townsend
Hello and welcome to The Community United Methodist Church of Chestertown website!
I’m so glad you found us. I’m Pastor Kimberly Ann Stevens Townsend – but please, just call me Pastor Kim.
I’ve been serving this wonderful church family since 2016. People often ask how I got here. Well, God nudged me toward ministry for a long time, but life kept getting in the way – until one day, He gave me a holy shove, and I dove in feet first! Looking back, I know this is EXACTLY where I’m meant to be.
A little about me… I’m a proud native of the Adirondack Mountains. I was born and raised here, and I still call these beautiful mountains home. My husband, Scott, and I live in my great-grandparents’ house with our cat, Stripers. We’re not far from where I grew up or from my parents, so family is always close by.
Living here means we’re smack dab in the middle of tourism. In the winter, I have a seasonal job that takes me to the mountain – though, oddly enough, I don’t ski! Scott works as a Rural Carrier for the USPS and has his own mail route.
But life isn’t all about work. We love taking time to enjoy ourselves, whether that means a trip to the ocean, a day at the zoo, or wandering through an aquarium.
My life verse is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” My preaching is real, relatable, and a little playful – because I believe joy belongs in the pulpit. I love sharing God’s love through stories, laughter, and grace. With a heart for music and for all generations, I strive to connect with whoever God sends.
The journey continues, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
